Gold Coast Light Rail (GCLR)

The Gold Coast Light Rail (GCLR) project was a softscape-only engagement where Eureka Landscapes completed three zones.

Eureka Landscapes Project Details

Zone 1 was a premium planting zone along Parklands Drive starting at Griffith University and Gold Coast University Hospital. This zone consisted of many ex-ground Livistona australis palms, basement void planted areas and verge treatment portions. Zone 2 was largely a revegetation and rehabilitation zone encompassing the main depot and project set-down area. Zone 4 was our longest section, spreading from Broadwater Parklands Station through to Surfers Paradise North Station.

Zone 4 was a very difficult and rewarding stage to complete as it had such diversity in works areas, planting treatments and significant cultural events. A small, safety-conscious construction team worked with McConnell Dowel to ensure the smooth delivery of the works in very long and narrow working environments between the live testing rail network and the open Gold Coast Highway. Additional works were added throughout the contract due to our ability to undertake such a large scope of works and still exceed program expectations.

The GCLR project success is a real credit to Eureka Landscapes’ construction team, due to their commitment to deliver a project with extremely tight constraints, their ability to be organised and be flexible with ever-changing, day-to-day work zones and their dedication to a faultless delivery.
